It’s been almost 17 months since I’ve completely changed my life and decided to start fighting for a healthier and happier body and mind. On March 3rd 2014 (one and a half month before my 30th birthday) I was done being fat, unhealthy and tired all the time and at that moment I threw out every food and every bottled drink that wasn’t good for me. I became a member of www.myfitnesspal.com and started logging everything I ate and all my exercise activities. I had lost several earlier battles against my excessive weight, even including gastric banding, but this time I knew; this is gonna work!
And it worked. In the past 17 months I lost 101 pounds. But I didn’t just lose a lot, I also gained so much more;
- the energy to easily get up ridiculously early every morning to go to the gym
- the physical condition to take long walks or bike-rides or do whatever I want without my weight holding me back
- new acquaintances and friends
- self-confidence and feeling so proud of myself for everything I’ve achieved
- knowledge about food and exercise and just being healthy
- having more fun in life!
There’s so much information online about healthy living and it’s not easy filtering out what’s correct and what’s relevant, and sometimes you just have to try things to see if they work out as planned. I’ve decided to start this blog today because I love to write and it would be amazing to contribute to the small changes or even the lifestyle changes of others. Others who are currently stuck in a less healthy or even destructive routine but want to make the change that I made and become a person with healthy habits instead!
Writing this blog does not mean that I think I have all the answers. Far from it. I encourage you to comment on my posts, share your experiences and thoughts so that I can learn again myself. Let’s contribute to each others healthy habits together!
